Amanda Murphy says, “ Everything I Know Today - I Learned From Playing Video Games “. I agree. Umm, I mean “me, too“. What I mean to say is that the same can be said for me. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
I've been working on a site where we'd like to rename the “.aspx” files to something else, like “.wxyz“. The primary reason we want to do this is not to hide the fact that the application is built on Microsoft technology, but we don't want to blatantly advertise it. The organization we built it for is a little sensitive to things like that. It would be an understatement to say that they have standardized on another platform. But I was able to build them a little application...
Over the past few days I have been working on an Outlook Adapter for Addy Santo's BlogWave . He added the ability to create additional adapters in his newest release, 0.3 (Alpha). The application already has adapters to allow getting data from RSS and WSS links, NNTP, as well as from the Event Log. I mentioned in comments to his post that he should consider adding an adapter for Outlook/Exchange. After thinking about it for 5 minutes I decided that maybe I would just create a custom adapter to do...
“They” say you don't have to register copyright for an item to own copyrights for that item, and technically you do not. But, you cannot sue someone for copyright infringement unless you have registered for copyright for that item. So basically you are technically protected even if you don't register, but you aren't legally protected unless you do register. Once you are registered then you can sue someone for copyright infringement, but you are only entitled any profits they made from...
If you aren't a subscriber to Mike Gunderloy's Developer Central weekly email newsletter then you should sign up to be one: http://lists.101com.com/nl/main.asp?NL=adt . Mike also publishes his Daily Grind among other things at his Larkware ( rss ) website. Definitely worth reading. Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
If you're not reading Gus Openshaw's Whale-killing Journal , then do yourself a favor and do so. Kind of reminds me of the old cliff-hanger TV shows. Brilliant use of the medium and working it into the storyline. Great fiction (or is it?). Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
I found this interesting item via a Slashdot article . For the most part, Wired ( rss ) will no longer capitalize the “I“ in Internet, the “W“ in web (unless the full “World Wide Web“ is used), or the “N“ in net. The Slashdot article asks, “ Is this the next logical step after ditching 'e-mail' in favor of 'email'?” Wired says that the move should not be interpreted as some kind of symbolic demotion. The article states that it is more of...
I found this nasty little application, BlogWave , today courtesy of Amanda Murphy's Weblog . After reading about 1.5 sentences about it on Addy's site, I knew it was something I wanted to try. I downloaded it and about 30 seconds later I was editing the included examples (because I don't like stuff writing to my C: drive) and gave them a twirl. Worked like a champ. I see a ton of promise in this thing. So much so, that I might actually start using it for an absquatulation project that I am working...
Re: my ASP101 article about using ASP and XMLHTTP to talk to Authorize.Net http://www.asp101.com/articles/dan/AuthNetXMLHTTP/default.asp That article was published a little over two years ago. I have received lots of feedback and questions. Among those I have also had a few people tell me that I should use ServerXMLHTTP rather than XMLHTTP, it scales better. I really need to update that article, but in the mean time, I am posting the text of an email I received today from Eddie Barcellos of mattermedia...
I used to only drink a cup or two of coffee a day when I worked in the “traditional work place”. Since I started telecommuting full-time a few years ago I have found that I now usually drink between 1/2 to a pot of coffee a day. I think that the major reason for this is that I have learned to force myself to take a break every couple of hours. In the traditional work place there were plenty of distractions to create breaks here and there, but at home in a quiet corner of the basement...

and I am so glad, even if it is just pre-season. I “watched” the entire thing. Actually, the TV was just on and I glanced up at it from time to time. In all truthfulness, I was reading Web Design on a $hoestring by Carrie Bickner . It is a very good book and I am smarter for reading it. She shares her experience and research of building websites on budgets. She tells how to get the most bang for your buck and where to spend money and where to “shave” corners. - I dare not...
We were sitting around the family room last night and at one point we started teasing Jared about one of his friends, a girl, who we run into from time to time. After a bit he replied, “I don't like her; she is too little”. I can't ever remember saying anything like that since I found an interest in the opposite sex as a boy!! Too little?!?! Too little?!?! To his credit the girl in question is rather petite. He is probably a foot taller than her and she is thin. But she is into dance...
I don't know about you, but I consider 34 to still be a “young man“! I'll keep telling myself that. If it doesn't work I'm going to start wearing my earrings again and maybe even do another bleach job. Hopefully, it won't come to that, but we'll see.
