How to setup the Performancing extension for Firefox to post to CS 2.0
As a follow up to my comments about the Performancing extension for Firefox that Dave Burke quoted today in the Community Server Daily News I put together a little Flash video to demonstrate how to setup the extension to post to a Community Server 2.0 blog. So I updated the library project, now what?
So I updated the library project, now what?
In my last post I described adding some unit tests to one of our core libraries that three projects currently being developed are using and finding a bug in the code. Well of course I fixed the bug, but now what? Now each of the teams working on the other projects will have to download the new compiled core library dlls, replace the current dlls in the project with them and rebuild. And I will have to do the same for all of the projects on the build server... just kidding - that's the "old way"....

Another real-world example of why even the most simple "smoke test" is shiny
I'm in the middle of developing a proof of concept project for a client that involves me working fairly closely with 3 third-parties along with the client. The communication and waiting game can sometimes be a PITA. Currently I'm waiting on any one of those 3 third-parties to provide me with "something" before I can proceed with "anything". While I am doing "nothing" I figured I would add some unit tests to one of our core libraries. Since I'm using that library for the project I am working on, increasing...

I'm diggin "Code Monkey"
Jonathan Coulton's " Code Monkey " is freakin' awesome (via Matt Hawley ). Check out the video on Tra5hTa1k , too - it's just as cool. I hope they do come up with a t-shirt (check out the poll), I like this version . Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | kick it! | live it!
Krabby Patties
Krabby Patties
Having just finished up a lunch composed mostly of a couple of Boca burgers I thought I would pass on a "tip" for those with children who are fans of Cartoon Network and specifically SpongeBob SquarePants. We keep a couple of boxes of Boca Burgers on hand because they are simple to prepare for a quick snack or meal and it's nice to give the kids a break from real burgers every once in a while. While it may not be super healty, it still makes me feel like a better parent to do so. But rather than...

Getting caught up on blog post reading and then ... BLAM!
Getting caught up on blog post reading and then ... BLAM!
I'm sitting here doing some multi-tasking this morning, babysitting the running of some build scripts remotely (through VPN and PCAnywhere) on a client's dev server and catching up on my blog reading. Remember that I was offline for about 10 days so there were a bunch piled up. To be fair there were a bunch piled up before I left, but that's insignificant :) Things were going well on the blog reading front, I was moving along at a good pace and I had everything read except for The Daily Grind , Scott...
Day of .NET Swag
Day of .NET Swag
I agree, Day of .NET Rocked! It was definitely worth the 3-1/2 hour drive each way and the overnight stay in a hotel. John , Josh , and Jason put on a great event and Mark Miller is a fantastic speaker. I will post my notes for each of the sessions that I attended a bit later, but for now I'll follow up on Jim's reference to $40,000 worth of swag : This is what one person's share of that swag looks like: Yes, for all those who didn't attend: that's 3 t-shirts ( Data Dynamics , Developer Express ...
Going to Day of .NET in Ann Arbor?
Going to Day of .NET in Ann Arbor?
I'm heading north to Ann Arbor this afternoon after work, along with Joe Wirtley, in order to attend the Day of .NET tomorrow. We'll be staying at the Hamton Inn Ann Arbor - North , which "conveniently" has an Applebees attached to it. If there are any like-minded individuals interested in consuming an adult beverage or two and shooting-the-***, you'll know where to find me. Feel free to drop me an email today if you are interested. Technorati Tags: Day of .NET Share this post: email it! | bookmark...

Back from our Disney vacation
Back from our Disney vacation
I pulled into the driveway this morning about 4:30 AM after driving for 16 hours from Disney World to home (about 30 miles north of Cincinnati). The drive wasn't that bad - we once drove from Monterey, CA, to here in a bit over 48 hours - going from Denver, CO to Cincinnati in about 24 hours. Enough about the drive - the vacation was nice - about 10 days total. No internet access, but that was kind of nice, too - I wouldn't have had time for it anyway. I did have a few hours to myself in the evenings...
